My thoughts today are with my nephew, David, and his sister-in-law, Carole. David was diagnosed earlier this year with an inherited disorder called Hemochromatosis that causes the body to absorb too much iron. By the time it was diagnosed, irreversible damage had been done to his liver and it was determined his only option was a transplant. However his health deteriorated further, and he was admitted to the ICU of Toronto General Hospital two weeks ago. Two days ago it was decided he was strong enough to proceed with the transplant. Carole is donating 70% of her liver to him.
My prayer is that the surgeries will go well today, and both of them will make a full recovery. Amen and amen.

Wrapping you all in prayer!
My husband has this and his sister does too, we believe it was also the reason his mom died of pancreatic cancer. IT is serious but with proper care and follow up it can be treated. (if caught in time) My husband also has a mass in his liver but it is not considered to be ‘dangerous’ or cancer.
I hadn’t heard of it before, but David’s sister was also found to have it. Fortunately hers was discovered early.

Carol, praying for your family today. And would covet your prayers for my husband and his sister. Their younger brother was scheduled for a lung biopsy yesterday, but things went dreadfully wrong, and we lost him. He was the youngest of the four siblings. Only my husband, the eldest, and his sister are left.

A dear friend has the disease. Her brother passed away from it a few years ago. So far, she gives blood regularly, plus follows her doctor’s orders. I’m so sorry to hear of David’s illness. Wishing him the absolute best every step of the way.
Oh my goodness Carol……I am so sorry about your nephew and his sister-in-law. When I first learned about it, I thought it was YOU. And I had no idea what had happened.
