My Rock

.

The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

Psalm 18:2

Still Saturday: Pathways

“As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”

Henry David Thoreau

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.”

Still Saturday: Leaves of Spring

.

Leaves come in every shape and form
perfectly designed by the Invisible Designer
busy at work his artistry weaves its magic
dipping in the most colorful palette

Trees empty and bare they would be
if leaves did not adorn them so
rustling and dancing in the wind
playing to that invisible orchestra of nature

Still Saturday: a Sunbeam’s Kiss

THE HUMMINGBIRD

The sunlight speaks. And its voice is a bird.

It glitters half-guessed, half seen, half heard

Above the flower bed. Over the lawn…

A flashing dip and it is gone.

And all it lends to the eye is this –

A sunbeam giving the air a kiss.

Still Saturday: Listening for Silence

.

In the stillness before night descends

                              Breath catches and waits —

                                   Absorbing the presence of God,

                                        Listening for His silence.
