Found on Jessica Page Morrell‘s blog yesterday:
“Forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you’re inspired or not. Habit will help you finish and polish your stories. Inspiration won’t. Habit is persistence in practice.”
~ Octavia Butler
In my opinion, that’s worth memorizing!

That is a good quote – I should pin it above my bureau. Every time I try and establish regular writing times, life intervenes after a couple of days and I’m back to writing when I have something to say, rather than writing to hone my craft.
I think it’s a good one, too. It’s going into my ‘inspiration collection’ for those slow days when I need a good kick to get back into gear. Thanks for visiting here and commenting.
Perfect motto for those of us who generally need a kick in the bum to get going. Thanks for the nudge, Carol.
If the shoe fits…. (nudge, nudge) 😉
I’m stealing shamelessly. I’m copying this quote and putting it in poster form. No little 3×5 inch pin-up for me. Full color, page layout rendition instead.
Thanks for sharing.
Steal away. I’m glad it speaks to you.
